Project Description
The Saudi Donated Rehousing Project, funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and administered through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), was an initiative designed to provide safe, sustainable housing solutions to displaced Palestinian families in Gaza. This project aimed to establish a residential city consisting of various building models that would not only meet the current needs of the population but also allow for future expansion and adaptation.
The Center for Engineering and Planning (CEP) prepared the full design and tender packages for the residential units, ensuring that the buildings could be extended both vertically and horizontally to accommodate the growing needs of the residents.
The project focused on providing high-quality, flexible housing with an emphasis on sustainability, enabling the residents to adapt and expand their homes as required. The design approach considered both the immediate requirements of the community and the long-term prospects for growth and development. The work was completed with careful consideration of the local context, environmental factors, and the social needs of the displaced families.
Role of CEP in the Project
Design Development: CEP was responsible for preparing detailed designs for various residential building models, ensuring they were adaptable to different family sizes and allowed for future extensions. The design was also aligned with local building practices and environmental conditions in Gaza.
Design Drawings: CEP delivered accurate and clear design drawings for all construction phases, facilitating a smooth construction process. These drawings were essential for implementing the project according to the specifications and timelines.
