Project Overview

The project focused on assisting 25 municipalities across the Gaza Strip in planning and implementing labor-intensive development and infrastructure projects. These projects span several critical sectors, including solid waste management, water and wastewater, building development, and road infrastructure. The goal was to improve local services, enhance sustainability, and foster economic growth in these communities by addressing infrastructure deficits and boosting local employment opportunities.

Role of CEP in the project

CEP’s role in the project included providing local technical consultancy and support for the successful planning, implementation, and oversight of the development projects. Specific responsibilities included:

Project Planning and Design: Assisting municipalities in designing labor-intensive infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet local needs while also optimizing the use of available resources.

Labor Force Utilization: Ensuring that the projects were labor-intensive, creating jobs and supporting the local economy by involving community members in the construction and implementation phases.

Sectoral Development: Providing expertise in key sectors such as solid waste management, water/wastewater, road development, and building improvements to enhance service delivery and quality of life for residents.

Capacity Building and Training: Working with local municipalities to improve their technical and administrative capabilities to handle and sustain infrastructure projects.

Monitoring and Quality Control: Supervising and ensuring the successful execution of projects in line with established guidelines, timelines, and quality standards.
